This 500-mile classic NASCAR race will once again run under the lights on a Saturday night in October. Lowe's Motor Speedway, (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway) will be the host of the Bank of America 500 Sprint Cup series race. Lowe's has quite a history. Motion pictures such as "Days of Thunder," "Speedway" and "Stroker Ace" and even music videos like Tracy Lawrence's "If the Good Die Young" have been filmed at the speedway. Large corporations like Coca-Cola, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Miller Brewing, Lowe's Home Improvement, and DuPont have rented the speedway to film commercials and entertain employees and clients.
Three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events, two NASCAR Nationwide Series races and a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event are among the major auto races held on the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Fast Track High Performance Driving School and The Richard Petty Driving Experience use the track extensively throughout the year.
