Tony Jacklin and Jack Nicklaus on the final hole of the final day - they halved their match and tied the Ryder Cup for the first time during the history of the event.

1977, Royal Lytham
Peter Oosterhuis' story, 2nd to 18th to beat Jerry Magee in the final singles match. His victory gave Great Britain and Ireland 5 single victories, a feat never before achieved.

1983, PGA National
Lanny Wadkins' 3rd shot to the 18th hole to beat José Maria Cañizares and secure the Ryder Cup for the USA.

The 38th Ryder Cup will be played at Celtic Manor in Wales, September 2010; the 39th Ryder Cup will be played at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, September 2012, and the 40th Ryder Cup will be played at Gleneagles, Scotland, Sept 2014.

Teams from Europe and the United States compete every two years for the Cup which was inaugurated in 1927. Ireland, North and South, has had a long and close involvement with the Ryder Cup from the days of Fred Daly, Harry Bradshaw, Christy O'Connor Senior, Eamonn Darcy, Ronan Rafferty, David Feherty, Christy O'Connor Junior, Philip Walton and Des Smyth through to today's top players, Darren Clarke, Pádraig Harrington, and Paul McGinley. The team captains for this years' Ryder Cup will be Paul Azinger, for the United States, and Nick Faldo, for the European nations.
