| The
Chicago Bulls joined the NBA for the 1966-67 season. The franchise
struggled for the better part of a quarter century working very
hard for mediocre results. But that all changed in the mid-1980s
with the drafting of Michael Jordan, the dominant player of his
era and possibly the greatest player of all time. In the early 1990s
the Bulls assembled a strong supporting cast for Jordan and won
three consecutive NBA titles, making the Chicago Bulls only the
third franchise in history to string together a trio of crowns.
After more than a year of "retirement", Jordan returned
to lead the Bulls back to another title in 1996, 1997 and finally
a third in 1998, the Bulls' second Three-peat of the decade and
their sixth NBA championship trophy. After Michael Jordan re-retired,
the Chicago Bulls went with a youth movement by drafting local high
school star Eddy Curry, and traded for Tyson Chandler, also fresh
out of high school. Add Jalen Rose a former “FAB fiver”, and former
ACC stars Lonny Baxter and Jay Williams into the mix and the Chicago
Bulls are positioning themselves for a return to glory.
