Virginia Cavaliers Football Tickets
The first Virginia Cavaliers football team was established in 1888. They didn't wear helmets, they played only three games (including local YMCA teams), they played on a field with gravel, and it consisted of only 11 men and 1 sub. Indeed the Cavaliers have come a long way since their first football game. In fact, the school's current colors, navy blue and orange, were established the fall following that first year. In 1894, UVA joined its first league, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Because athletics were not fully supported by the college or the community, a strict athletic code was written in 1906. Eventually old Lambeth Field was replaced as the playing field by Scott Stadium, which got astroturf in 1974, and went back to grass in 1995. Perhaps the most notable coach in all of Virginia Cavaliers football was Geroge Welsh, who retired in 2000,and was the winningest coach in the history of UVA and the ACC. The Cavaliers still play at the newly renovated Scott Stadium, and the head coach is Al Groh. Go 'Hoos!
The tentative 2008 schedule is below.
