Brickyard Tickets

Indianapolis Motor Speedway has a long, exciting history. In July of last year, Indiana’s own Tony Stewart claimed his second victory in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard after a thrilling late-race duel with 2003 winner Kevin Harvick. Will Tony be able to pull it off this year or will Kyle Busch take another win?

There are several different seating options at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Portions of the Penthouse and Box seat locations (higher rows) are covered. In those areas seats DO have backs on them – either bench style or folding chair. Grandstands H, J, G and all Vistas are NOT covered areas and there are NO seat backs. Seats in the Tower Terrace are benches with backs. Access to all stand areas is by stairs or ramps. A detailed seating map is not available. Wheelchair and companion seats are available in the Paddock Platform, North Vista Platform and Wheelchair Accessible Stand.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located on the west side of Indianapolis, just minutes from Indianapolis International Airport. From I-465, you take exit 16A which is Crawfordsville Rd. Drive east approximately 1.5 miles; the Speedway is located on the north east corner of Crawfordsville and Georgetown Roads.

When NASCAR president Bill France Jr. and Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Tony George announced in February 1993 that NASCAR would be racing at Indianapolis, it sent shockwaves through the auto racing community. Many feared the tradition and integrity of the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be compromised. But the enormous popularity of NASCAR racing fueled the sales of Brickyard 400 tickets. The "Brickyard 400" name is derived from Indianapolis Motor Speedway's nickname. The Speedway has been known as the "Brickyard" since 1909, when the surface of the 2 1/2-mile oval track consisted of 3.2 million bricks. A single strip of bricks, called the "yard of bricks," remains at the track's start/finish line.

nascar tickets brickyardNASCAR racing originated in the south in the 1930s, when the government decided to tax moonshine. Moonshine runners modified their cars to outrun the tax officials. When there were no government agents to outrun, they decided to outrun each other. Stock car racing was born.NASCAR, the acronym for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing Inc., was started by Bill France in 1948. Stock car racing remained a predominantly Southern sport, racing in the Carolinas, Alabama and Florida. That changed in 1979 when the Daytona 500 became the first nationally televised NASCAR race. NASCAR has become America's fastest growing sport, attracting millions of fans and expanded racing throughout the country and as far away as Australia.

Jeff Gordon in Victory Lane after winning the inaugural Brickyard 400 in 1994. The first Brickyard 400 was held Aug. 6, 1994, before a crowd of more than a quarter-million fans. It had much of the same hoopla as the 500-Mile Race - Florence Henderson sang "America the Beautiful" and Jim Nabors sang the national anthem, balloons were released and a military flyover thrilled the crowd.Rick Mast sat on the pole, but it was Pittsboro, Ind., native Jeff Gordon who won the inaugural race. During the three hour race, there were only six caution flags and 21 lead changes involving 13 drivers. Gordon took home $613,000 in prize money. The total purse was $3.2 million. On Aug. 5, 2001. Gordon became the first three-time winner of the race.

Though its history is short, the Brickyard 400 is one of the richest and most prestigious races on the NASCAR circuit. It is also a favorite of drivers and fans alike. Order Brickyard tickets today to reserve your place in the excitement!
