The Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina is the first super speedway to host a night race. Built in 1959, it is a 1.5 mile, intermediate, D-shaped oval track with 165,000 seats. The NASCAR Sprint Cup series racers will visit Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May for the Nextel All-Star Challenge, and in October, for the Bank of America 500. The Carquest Auto Parts 300 in May and the Dollar General 300 in October are a part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series races. Also in May, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race will be the Quaker Steak and Lube 200.

The NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race consists of a minimum of 20 cars and drivers comprised of:

  • Drivers and car owners who have won races in the preceding and current years
  • Active drivers who have won the Sprint Cup Series championship during the past 10 years
  • Active drivers who have won the Sprint All-Star Race during the past 10 years
  • The winner and the second-place finisher of the Sprint Showdown
  • A driver from the Sprint Showdown selected by the Sprint All-Star Fan Vote
