About the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp
Jacksonville has a deep-rooted baseball history. The city hosted the first-ever Major League Spring Training in 1888.

The first baseball team, the Jacksonville Jays were founded in 1904. Today, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp proudly represents the city. The Jumbo Shrimp were launched in 2016 after new owners took over the successful Jacksonville Suns organization. Its new name comes from the popularity of shrimping in the St Johns river. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp play in the Triple-A-East league and is an affiliate team of Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins franchise. The team has sent many players up to the big show over the past few seasons.

They are based at 121 Financial Ballpark which has 6000 seats and a capacity of 11,000 fans.

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp have a very successful history as an organization. They have won seven minor league titles - 1968, 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2014. And 14 division titles - 1973, 1974, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2014. The Jumbo Shrimp have had 14 players, six managers, and six executives win league awards in recognition for their performance with the organization.

This year’s Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp team is led by manager Al Pedrique. First baseman Lewin Diaz is the team’s leading home run hitter and anticipation is high every time he comes to the plate. Shortstop Bryson Brigman is a hitting machine who is always getting on base and 23-year-old pitcher Braxton Garrett has featured for the Miami Marlins this season.
