Additional Arizona Cardinals Info

The Arizona Cardinals have missed the playoffs 24 times in the last 30 years and haven’t posted a winning record since 2015.

So why is there so much excitement in the desert as the 2021 season gets underway?

The answer is simple: Talent.

It starts at the quarterback position, where the always-exciting Kyler Murray begins his third season with the franchise. Murray threw for nearly 4,000 yards a year ago and averaged more than six yards per carry en route to earning Pro Bowl honors. The scary part: He and head coach/playcaller Kliff Kingsbury will have even more weapons to utilize in 2021.

DeAndre Hopkins caught a franchise-record 115 passes a year ago despite being the No. 1 name on every defensive coordinator’s scouting report. Hopkins and fellow wideout Christian Kirk are joined this fall by veteran standout A.J. Green and rookie speedster Rondale Moore to make up a receiving corps as good as any in the National Football League.

All-Pro safety Budda Baker once again leads the defense, but he’ll have plenty of help. Superstar defensive end J.J. Watt joins the Cards after a decade (and more than 100 career sacks!) in Houston. First-round pick Zaven Collins should make an immediate impact at inside linebacker as well.

The Cardinals got off to a fast start in 2020, winning five of their first seven games, but stumbled down the stretch. This year’s schedule begins with three of the first four games on the road. Arizona will visit the Titans September 12, the Jaguars September 26, and the Rams October 3.

The home opener is scheduled for September 19 when the Vikings visit State Farm Stadium. Other highlights of the 2021 home slate include a Thursday night date against the Packers (and reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers) on October 28 and a Monday night tilt with the Rams on December 14.

Arizona will host Indianapolis in a Saturday night showdown on December 25, marking the Cards’ first Christmas Day game since 2010. The regular season finishes January 9 with a home game against defending NFC West champion Seattle.
