It’s been 15 long years since the Michigan Wolverines made their last trip to the Rose Bowl. Can Jim Harbaugh finally break through and take his alma mater back to Pasadena?
If not, can he at least beat Ohio State?
That’s what Michigan fans are asking, and Harbaugh is running out of time to prove he’s the man to return U-M to the top of the Big Ten. His Wolverines are now 0-5 against their biggest rival, and while nine-win seasons and bowl games in Florida are nice, that’s not exactly the level the all-time winningest program in college football is expected to perform at.
U-M’s 2021 schedule begins with four straight September home games, as the Wolverines welcome Western Michigan, Washington, Northern Illinois, and Rutgers to Michigan Stadium. Things get more difficult from there, including key road games at Wisconsin (October 2) and Penn State (November 13).
Of course, none of it matters nearly as much as the big game against the Buckeyes. This year’s edition will be played at the Big House on November 27, and the Wolverines will be looking for their first victory in the series since 2011. The teams did not play last year due to the pandemic, marking the first football season without a Michigan-Ohio State game since way back in 1917.
